Position Overview:

The Technical Operations Engineer is responsible for working with our internal and our customer teams to complete all technical aspects involved in new deployments of the PatientTouch System solution in healthcare organizations across the country. In addition to customer deployments, this position provides Linux system, application support and general network assistance to the Tier I and Tier II Technical Support team members as well as interfaces regularly with the Project Management, Development, and QA teams.

The PatientTouch System provides critical clinical communications in a mobile format to caregivers in hospitals across the US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using our configuration management tools deploys and maintains CentOS based servers and the application stack that runs the PatientTouch System application in hospitals across the country
  • Partner with both internal and customer-facing Project Management teams to ensure timely deployments of the PatientTouch System server and its components
  • Provide Linux system administration and PatientTouch System server-side application support
  • Develop and maintain systems automation and configuration management tools
  • Prototype and validate proof of concept systems and designs
  • Work closely with Development, QA, and Support to maintain a stable OS platform, create sustainable upgrade processes, and mature systems monitoring
  • Document production systems and deployment methodologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in production environments
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related discipline preferred, but not required
  • Minimum five (5) years of Linux systems administration experience, preferably in a customer-facing environment. Previous experience in the healthcare environment and/or hospitals preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with deploying and managing medium to large scale Linux distributions
  • Solid VMWare vCenter experience in large production environments with solid working knowledge for the supporting infrastructure (blade server systems, storage arrays, internetworking equipment) associated with creating and supporting modern virtualized data centers
  • Solid scripting (Perl, Shell Scripting, Python, Ruby, etc.) background
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios Zabbix, and Configuration management tools like Ansible or similar
  • Understanding of or administrative experience with MySQL or MS SQL based database servers
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and security fundamentals. Exposure and understanding of network load balancers (Citrix ADC / NetScaler or F5 Big IP) desired
  • Knowledge of application and infrastructure security
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills: articulate and effective communicator and presenter, able to describe complex problems and solutions in understandable terms; ability to frame communications to a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Additionally, as we are shifting from an on-premise application to a cloud-hosted solution, experience with AWS tools is desired. Experience migrating from on-premise applications to cloud-hosted solutions is highly desired
