MUSE 2016 – Sharing Stories

· Kim Tucker,
MUSE16One of the my favorite things about conferences is the chance to share stories and learning from each other. I’m thrilled that I get two formal opportunities to do so at MUSE16 in Orlando this year!

The first presentation with my friend and colleague Amy Hough, Director of Informatics from Parkview Medical Center, 1061 – EHRs & Smartphone Technology: Making Workflows Work is on Thursday, June 2nd at 2:30pm ET in Gainesville 1. First, I will explore the concepts of cognitive workload, shifts and stacking and how they apply to clinicians. Amy will describe how Parkview Medical Center developed a robust mobility solution for their clinicians using a smartphone-based clinical/communications solution in conjunction with their existing electronic healthcare record (EHR) system in using a single application on a single device. We will end the presentation with a discussion around future plans for expanding the use of smartphone based technology into expanded clinical documentation and quality metrics will close the presentation.

Then on Friday, June 3rd at 9:30am ET in Sanibel 2, I have the honor of supporting Heath Erickson, the Clinical Solutions Consultant for PatientSafe Solutions in our presentation 506 – PatientSafe Solutions: Beyond Text, Talk, & Alerts – Taking MEDITECH Mobile. Come see what other MEDITECH customers are using to mobilize clinical workflows and clinical communications on the smartphone. The PatientTouch application delivers secured care team messaging with patient information directly from your MEDITECH system, as well as mobile alerts from your clinical systems. From BMV to specimen collection and documenting vital signs, ADLs, and clinical interventions, untethering clinicians from desktop computers and computer carts drives safety, efficiency, and productivity initiatives.

For those of you attending MUSE16, we hope you will join us for our presentations and come by Booth 1306. We would love to say hi!
